About Purpose of Position: Community Relations &LocalGov Specialist Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
To fulfil the role of the Community Relations & Local Government Specialist, you will play a key role responsible for but not limited to:

Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
Identify, mapping, analyzing, and prioritizing community stakeholders and designing appropriate engagement methods and messages.
Designing and implementing strategies for setting up and maintaining Community Engagement Forums, providing input into Stakeholder Engagement Plan including annual action plans and objective on community engagement.
Updating of monthly and quarterly actions plans and ensuring it is kept up to date
Supporting, enhance and maintain good relationships with communities and key community stakeholders
Organize, lead and participated in community meeting and ensure records of such meeting are kept up to date on Isometrix timeously
Consistently and continuously analyze and understand community concerns, expectations, and perceptions to inform risks, impacts, and engagement strategies
Analyze community feedback and engagements and use this to identify any protentional conflict situations, grievances and incidents or social, human rights impacts and risks and feed that back to the Community Relations Manager, Grievance & Incidents Manager and SHIRA Specialist
Work closely with security to identify community-based threats to the safety of mine staff and continuity of mine operations.
Implement a purpose driver, high-performing culture, aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement, and fosters continuous improvement to work processes while setting clear and consistent expectations, encouraging individuals and teams to challenge the status quo and strive for improvements
Compliance and adherence to external local compliance requirements, the Anglo American Compliance requirements and ensuring compliance of team

Anglo American Community Relations &LocalGov Specialist Job Requirements

Anglo American Community Relations &LocalGov Specialist job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
Completed a Degree in Sociology, Economics, Community Development, Public Administration & Regional Planning, negotiation and conflict resolution or related discipline
Post Graduate qualification will be advantageous
Important: Applications without copies of qualifications attached will not be considered

Required Experience:

A minimum of 3+ years’ post qualification experience dealing with extractive industry external / community relations or similar
Solid understanding, knowledge and experience in Stakeholder Engagement, government socio-economic development and related legislations (e.g Municipal Finance Management Act, infrastructure, MPRDA)
Advanced Knowledge of government socio-economic development plans and solid knowledge and understanding in Company systems and related legislation
Ability to apply business improvement techniques, compile social profiles, social impact assessments and facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement sessions
Understanding of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards will be advantageous
Ability and know how in the interpretation of benchmarks, and development of targeted, effective plans to achieve measurable operational improvements
Proficient in stakeholder engagement and ability to win the support and confidence of communities, stakeholders and beneficiaries
Tenacity to interface and influence colleagues and Senior Management
Proficient in facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement sessions and in resolving complex problems and situations in your capacity as a project leader with experience in designing and managing social improvement projects
Good understanding of grievance and incident processes

Additional information:
Computer literacy and knowledge of SAP, Isometrix, Enablon, Smartsheet etc will be advantageous
Good written, verbal and communication skills in English with proficiency in local languages and appreciation of local culture
Valid South African Driver’s license
Regular local travel may be required
Must be prepared to work overtime when required
Valid certificate of Fitness
