About Purpose of Position: Environmental Coordinator- Natural Resources Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
As an Environmental Coordinator your responsibilities will include:

Compliance obligations (Legal & Group)

Establish, develop and update management and monitoring programs, to ensure compliance with Environmental Authorizations, Legal Requirements and Group Standards, including but not limited to; Air Quality, Biodiversity, Water, Mine Closure and Rehabilitation.
Undertake or participate in self-assessments with Group standards or internal audits as needed, and design and implement action plans to close actions identified.
Align with international standards, e.g. IRMA standards and IFC PS.
Maintain up to date Compliance obligations Register(s) that outline commitments / actions related to natural resource management and review status to ensure compliance.
Environmental Risk Management

Support environmental superintendent with identification of risks and control measures associated with natural resource management and management of such risks in line with AA’s Operational Risk Management (ORM) processes.
Environmental Management Systems (EMS)

Ensure natural resource management is integrated into the operations Environmental Management System (EMS) and aligned with the SHE Way and certified to ISO 14001.
Develop appropriate Operational Procedures, management plans and monitoring plans to manage risks and impacts associated with natural resources, to support the EMS.
Environmental Incident Management

Lead or support LFI investigations as per latest approved Business Unit Incident procedure (specifically related to air quality, noise, water quality, material stewardship, biodiversity and rehabilitation) at the site.
Lead the development and implementation of actions and improvement plans to address findings from such incident investigations and to prevent repeat incidents and link back into ORM processes i.e. Baseline Work Risk Assessment and Control (WRAC).
Environmental Training and Awareness

Design and implement an environmental natural resources awareness program for the environmental team, employees, contractors and communities to improve awareness and expertise around the natural resource management.

Qualifications:
Relevant Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent
Relevant Environmental Short-Course Certificates (such as ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) Standard, environmental auditing, environmental legislation etc).
Relevant qualification related to one or more of the following: air quality, noise, water quality, material stewardship, biodiversity and/or rehabilitation.
