About Purpose of Position: Finance Business Improvement Specialist Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
As a Business Support Finance Specialist Responsible for remaining up-to-date with key GSS financial and commercial matters. The individual will submit the monthly GSS results in HFM for inclusion in the Group accounts and control of the balance sheet of the EMEA SS company, as well as preparing statutory accounts and other submissions. The incumbent will develop an understanding of the cost drivers that impact performance and through using management accounting reporting and techniques will provide insights and highlight trends as well as having the ability to challenge departmental managers on business issues including business plans, planned expenditure and outlooks, variances to plan and proposed commercial agreements, to help to identify and evaluate business value generating and/or cost saving opportunities. The individual will also be the primary contact for audit and financial reporting queries.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

Submit timely and accurate monthly reporting, budget and forecast datasets in HFM
Prepare annual statutory accounts (AFS) for EMEA and liaise with external auditors to ensure audit runs smoothly
Prepare and submit other statutory financial information (e.g., VAT returns) as required
Work with management and colleagues to provide effective management accounting services to support the achievement of plans identifying root causes of variances and issues for management attention
Introduce enhanced GSS global reporting as required
Liaise effectively with key departmental managers and build strong working relationships
Ensure that systems and controls are in place to manage resources and ensure good corporate governance practices
Support implementation of corrective actions arising from audit findings
Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively with your leader, peers and relevant others (including from other teams) to achieve business goals
Monitor the activities of your team which involve other teams and appropriately intervene to address any cross-team issues
Contribute to the development of the budget
Monitor your costs against budget and either address, or advise your manager of, any variances of note
Manage daily treasury and forex functions.
Prepare and correctly report the share-based payment calculations received from group (IFRS2).
Identify any opportunities for improved cost management and either address these, or raise them with your manager, as appropriate

Anglo American Finance Business Improvement Specialist job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification with articles completed.
CTA or related Honours degree and will be an advantage
Experience required:

3 – 5 years Accounting experience
Demonstrated functional accounting experience in a similar environment
Experience of year-end and other statutory reporting
Experience with analysis and benchmarking of financial/business data
Demonstrated experience working within a team to deliver against set targets
Experience of performing key controls and working with adherence to financial procedures
Knowledge specific to the role:
