About Purpose of Position: Hygienist Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
As our Specialist Hygienist, your responsibilities will include:

Carry the Mine Health and Safety Act Section 12.1 legal appointment.
Assist the mine to comply with all the legal requirements associated with the 12.1 legal appointment.
Design, coordinate and manage comprehensive Occupational Hygiene programs based on legal requirements and best practise.
Conduct workplace assessments, prepare and submit good quality reports required by regulatory authorities and by management.
Ensure the work environment complies with all relevant occupational hygiene standards to minimize potential health risk to employees.
Advise management on interventions necessary to ensure compliance to statutory requirements and best practice.
Establish and maintain a holistic professional Occupational Health and Safety service which creates and facilitates a healthy and safe working environment.
Manage occupational hygiene projects and initiatives.
Actively participate in conducting incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Produce Occupational exposure histories and link Occupational Hygiene measurements to medical surveillance records via the system mandated by the mine operations.
Compile all Codes of Practise relevant to the Section 12.1 legal appointment.
Tests the Emergency preparedness and fire response of the operation to ensure legal compliance and best practise.
Maintain the Health Risk profiles for All Mine Employees.
Manage the Technical committee to drive the management of the Occupational Hygiene Risks
Preparation and submission of all internal and external reports.
Maintain the Occupational Hygiene Risk register.
Ensure total quality management.

Anglo American Hygienist Job Requirements

Anglo American Hygienist job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
You will be required to have the following:

Grade 12
B Degree in Occupational Hygiene or Environmental Health Sciences
Advanced Certificate in Mine and Environmental Control (ACMEC) and Mine Ventilation Society (MVS) registration
Registration with SA Institute of Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) as an Occupational Hygienist
Intermediate Certificate in Mine and Environmental Control (MEC) and Mine Ventilation Society (MVS) registration will be an advantage.
Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light vehicle)
Requirements:

At least 3 – 5 years operational experience in Occupational Hygiene of which two years should be at managerial capacity.
