About Purpose of Position: Occupational Hygiene Superintendent Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
As Occupational Hygiene Superintendent your responsibilities will include:

Work with the operational emergency preparedness and response discipline to improved co-ordination across disciplines and complementary pairing of resources at Mining Operations
Performing MHSA Section 12 work on sites with small footprints and/or where only junior resources are available on site
Conduct pre-operational occupational hygiene work on Mining Projects or for operations under care and maintenance.
Ensure guidance and execution support for specialized / complex exposure / control scenarios
Capturing emerging trends and gap analysis and proposing implementable early interventions / controls to Operations
Conduct inspections of Mining operations to ensure that they comply with systems, guidelines and codes of practice.
Drive delivery the sustainability activities as relevant to discipline and set out in the Life of Asset Plan to improve sustainability performance over time.
Put in place sufficient physical and financial resources and coordinate delivery of Sustainable Mining Plan commitments relevant to discipline.
Manage compliance with environmental and social requirements as relevant to discipline, including commitments to stakeholders.
Identify environmental and social risks triggered by or impacting on discipline and propose mitigation techniques to be incorporated in the asset risk management approach.
Identify environmental and social opportunities relevant for work area and then introduce and monitor sustainability initiatives.
Foster awareness of environmental and social sustainability within team and consider full impact of decisions.
Participate in stakeholder engagements as relevant to discipline and act consistently with sustainability expectations.
Seeks opportunities to improve business processes in area of responsibility by identifying and communicating more effective ways to operate in order to address business needs.
Manage compliance of the teams within work area with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance
Support the implementation of Occupational Hygiene systems at Mining operations. Regularly review policies, procedures, guidelines, and code of practices to meet the needs of the Operations.
Underground Ventilation engineering -vent planning and ensure supply of fresh air underground.

Anglo American Occupational Hygiene Superintendent Job Requirements

Anglo American Occupational Hygiene Superintendent job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent
Tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Hygiene or Ventilation Engineering or related science
Chamber of Mines [CoM] Advance Certificate in Mine Environmental Control [MEC].
Certified Occupational Hygienist (advantageous).
Experience

At least 7 years post qualification experience in the field of occupational hygiene and ventilation
At least 5 years in mining environment
Knowledge And Skills

Computer literate, with specific reference to the MS Office Suite (MS Excel, Power Point and Word)
Communication skills
Interpersonal skills
A valid drivers licence
