About Purpose of Position: Safety Advisor Contractor Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
You will support all aspects of the Safety Advisor Contractor function including:

Carries out a legal function as a Safety Advisor Contractor for the designated area of responsibility.
Lead and participate in Site Safety inspections where contractor work is concerned.
Co-ordinate and participate in safety audits to ensure adherence to safety guidelines by contractors at AAP operations.
Compile the annual Safety Improvement Plan ensuring plans are in place for contractors.
Co-ordinate and participate in Risk-Assessments for contractor work at Operations.
Develop a schedule and conduct audits and inspections/ PTOs.
Supervise Safety Officer Contractors in line with safety oversight and compliance verification.
Ensure Advisors work according to AA safety standards by providing safety oversight on contractor activities.
Identify & evaluate best practices in- & outside the industry.
Provide input on appropriate safety KPI thresholds and targets.
Provide input into the definition, development and delivery of required safety training for contractors.
Communicate safety related expectations and responsibilities by contractors.
Set up a process to ensure that safety procedures are reviewed, improved and communicated.
Advise on safety initiatives & best practices to contract owners
Ensure alignment of the safety expectation and standards.
Support issue based and baseline risk assessments on ad hoc basis, and provide expertise on risks & hazards
Advise on most appropriate critical controls to implement for any given risk, and support continuous improvement

Anglo American Safety Advisor Contractor Job Requirements

Anglo American Safety Advisor Contractor job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
Minimum of Tertiary education, diploma (M+3) in Safety and Risk Management (NADSAM) or other relevant tertiary education would be advantageous.
Quality Assurance – added advantage
Project management – added advantage
PRMS (PLCL) / COMSOC I & II / SAMTRAC / ISO 45001
Courses in Safety management systems (9001, 14001, 45001) would be advantageous
Experience required:

5 Years relevant Mining / Process / Engineering/ experience which should include developing, implementing, managing and auditing of safety and risk management initiatives and programmes.
3 years’ experience as a Safety Officer in Mining/ Process environment
