Job Description:
As a Safety Superintendent your responsibilities will include:

Lead the implementation of the Group Safety strategy at site.
Guide the implementation and coordination of safety programmes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, guidelines and procedures.
Provide input, assess and refine existing safety procedures.
Advise the line on most appropriate critical controls to implement for any given safety risk and support continuous improvement of these over time.
Provide input on appropriate Safety KPI thresholds/targets for the area of responsibility.
Advise operations on the required skill development plan/program to enhance capabilities of employees & Business Partners to achieve excellence in safety.
Provide guidance to HOD’s on what should be done within the current Safety Management system to address trends identified.
Consult on high level risk assessment.
Establish safety leadership in the course of on-site employee engagements and actively engage in Visible Felt Leadership interactions (VFL).
Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues as part of demonstrating strong safety leadership.
Conduct joint leadership safety visits with contractor leadership.
Facilitate comprehensive incident analysis in line with the safety protocols.
Facilitate independent review of serious incidents and all accidents.
Conduct trend analysis on safety and report on these.

Anglo American Safety Superintendent Job Requirements

Anglo American Safety Superintendent job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
Grade 12
Degree in either Mining, Engineering, Process or Safety.
Experience and Knowledge

Practical safety experience of at least 5 to 7 years
A demonstrated and accomplished Safety Practitioner.
A proven track record and extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity in a relevant discipline.
Track record of leading ideas generation; translating these into practical initiatives to be implemented and demonstration of successful execution and delivery within Safety improvement projects.
Demonstrated success on business/process improvement projects.
Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.
Knowledge in Health and Safety management systems (OSHAS or ISO45001)
