About Purpose of Position: Section Manager Safety Jobs at Anglo American

Job Description:
As a Section Manager Safety, you will be responsible for the following:

Drive the Safety Management system and Risk Management process continuously to achieve zero harm.
Ensure incident investigations are up to date and of good quality and facilitate investigations.
Ensure SHE officer legal inspections are up to date and on standard.
Coach SHE officers on quality inspections.
Implement ORMP (Operational Risk Management Process) and LFI (Learning from Incidents) for respective sections.
Provide guidance and regular advice to HOD’s and identify trends to ensure continuous improvement.
Conduct field visits, verification and safety coaching to ensure middle managers drive the safety Management system.
Ensure timeous reporting of SHE related information for example daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports are accurate.
Ensure accurate and timeous reporting to DMR as per the legislated guidelines.
Implement contractor management according to Sishen Standards.
Participate and provide input in the development of the Departmental safety objectives and targets and monitor the implementation thereof.
Facilitation of tactical implementation initiatives in the relevant areas
Plan and co-ordinate the workload per SHE officer to ensure optimal coverage.
Oversee the process of safety audits for the operations.
Track quantitative KPI’s to measure safety risk, trends and control effectiveness.

Anglo American Section Manager Safety Job Requirements

Anglo American Section Manager Safety job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
Relevant 4-year or Honours degree in Safety Management or Relevant BTech in Safety Management plus competency requirements as per the Mine, Health and Safety Act (where applicable)
Valid South African Driver’s License
OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 audit training
Risk Management Training (advantageous)
COMSOC 1, 2, 3 or SAMTRAC (advantageous)
Experience:

At least 5 years relevant experience in daily SHE management in a mine environment (preferable open cast)
Experience as Chief Safety Officer
Experience and knowledge in internal auditing and inspections.
Experience in managing people and working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
