Job Description:
As an Occupational Medicine Practitioneryour responsibilities will include the following:

Evaluating and assessing incapacity cases and do recommendations to the Mine to ensure optimal functioning of the health system.
Direct and manage injury on duty cases during working hours and after hours to ensure optimal efficiency.
Advise audit teams and the Medical panel during medical cases and manage workplace visits to ensure optimal functioning and conformance to Mine Health and Safety Act.
Advise management regarding DME cases, medical disability and placement in general to ensure efficiency. Conduct analysis of employee results and escalation of deviations in employees results from previous records
Conduct physical examinations on employees to determine fitness levels of employees. Manage the evaluation of pregnant woman in the workplace and ensure conformance to health standards. Provide expert advice as member of the Operations Risk Assessment team to ensure minimal production interruption.
Do referrals of health conditions requiring further investigation by specific specialists
Optimize human resources in a way that maximum output is delivered by the section as a whole.
Ensure work ethics is of such a nature that workers continuously strive towards improving their own performance.
Ensure optimal safety meetings take place to give maximum information to workers.
This role is in the SHEPS department at a level Band 6/12 and will be reporting to the Superintendent Occupational Medical Practitioner.

Anglo American Specialist Occupational Medicine Practitioner job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
MBChB – Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
DOM / DOH – Diploma in Occupational Medicine and Health
Valid registration as Medical Practitioner with HPCSA (Health Professions Council of
South Africa
Valid driver’s license
Valid medical certificate
Experience:

5 Years’ experience in Occupational Health
Sound knowledge of the MHSA.
