Job Description:
This role will provide critical support for the delivery of tax compliance activities in the region, manage tax operations and effective delivery of Group Tax’s activities involving collaboration and input with global teams and process owners, identify process improvements and help implement solutions, ensure compliance and reporting processes are delivered in an accurate and timely manner and drive discrete processes relating to tax operations with key stakeholders outside of Group Tax.

Anglo American Tax Specialist Job Requirements

Anglo American Tax Specialist job requirements are following:-

Qualifications:
Chartered Accountant or Tax Professional with 7+ years post qualification experience
Experience with Mining Taxation and Mining Royalties would be an advantage
Knowledge of South Africa taxes, including but not limited to:
Corporate taxation, specifically including taxation of mining companies
Indirect taxation, including VAT, Carbon Tax, Interest withholding tax, Dividend withholding tax, Diamond Export Levy, Securities Tax and Donations Tax
Employment tax regimes
Practical experience with all aspects of tax compliance is essential Working knowledge of other international tax principles is desirable.
Working knowledge of ERP systems, data analytics and automation applications
Some experience and knowledge of tax process design
Tax authority correspondence
Operation and/or maintenance of the Control Frameworks

Tax Specialist Job Responsibility for Anglo American Job Vacancy

Key Responsibilities include:

Day-to-day management of the delivery of the tax compliance obligations of Anglo American, across all taxes, in accordance with the Group Tax Services Accountability Statement (GTSAS). The scope of work covers all taxes including Corporate Income Tax, VAT or similar taxes, Employment Taxes, local taxes etc, however the extent of responsibility differs, based on the principles and RACI set out in the GTSAS.
Coordinate the preparation and filing of any local transfer pricing obligations, in collaboration with the central transfer pricing team.
Support meeting the BU’s and Group’s internal tax reporting requirements, including monthly cash forecasting, ETR forecasting, budgeting, interim and year-end processes.
Support engaging with auditors on tax accounting calculations and tax reporting positions.
Manage external professional service providers on tax matters, including in particular the group’s chosen outsource provider for the region.
Working with the group’s chosen compliance outsource provider, responsibility for the continued development of compliance processes to ensure they continue to meet best practice, identifying opportunities to utilise technology and best practice processes.

Manage the implementation of tax automation opportunities as well as supporting globally run tax technology projects, managing the implementation of changes to process, controls and systems, while developing and monitoring appropriate controls for the region
Support the management of tax authority correspondence and maintenance and enhancement of relationships with tax authority personnel in the region.
Support the control of the tax risks by the operation and/or maintenance of the Control Frameworks.
